We stayed four nights in an Airbnb in Calgary. The first two days, we mostly stayed at the Airbnb and worked. Vinz had meetings and worked for his company, and I applied for two jobs and did a lot of research on Banff and Jasper National Park. On Wednesday evening we went to the cinema to see “Elvis.” We both liked the movie and loved the cinema experience! It is much better than in Switzerland!
On Thursday, I got my birthday present from Vinz. I was allowed to choose what I wanted to do the entire day, and Vinz paid for everything. First, we drove to Calgary and had brunch. Then we did some sightseeing. After that, we went to a huge thrift store, where I spent an hour going through clothes. That was the only part of the day Vinz didn’t enjoy. We ate lunch at the Farmer’s Market, which had lots of different food stands. We also shared a small cake, which was surprisingly good. Similar to Sprüngli cakes. Then we went Bowling and Vinz learned a new technique from a guy who worked there. In the evening, we went to a cool bar that served beer in small glasses so that we could try several different kinds. We sat outside, drank beer, and played “Fantastische Reiche.” For dinner, I reserved a top-rated restaurant on Trip Advisor. It was much fancier than expected, and the food was delicious. Then we drove to an outlook and set up our camera stand. We tried to take some photos of the city at night. It was our first try doing night photography. It was fun, but we couldn’t fully capture what we wanted. We will try again sometime!

Yesterday was Canada Day. We checked out from our Airbnb and drove to Calgary to see the festivities. There were some food trucks and street performers, but mostly lots of people wearing Canada-themed stuff and hanging out.
Now we are in Canmore. We have camping reservations in Banff for the next five nights. The weather forecast does not look good, but we are hoping for some non-rainy hours to do some hiking! And hopefully, we get to see more wildlife!
